Apart of Me is a UK registered charity (1194613) dedicated to supporting young people, and parents who are suffering through loss and trauma.
Our mission is to give young people and their families the power to get through the darkest moments of their life, such as when a parent dies, or when they are exposed to traumatic events. We combine world-renowned clinical expertise with innovative design.
We work across the UK and have an international crisis response, such as our recent Nadiya project - developing a new digital mental health service to help Ukrainian children and parents through the trauma of war. We created a highly acclaimed therapeutic mobile game to help young people through grief, a service now recommended by leading mental health professionals and services around the UK and overseas. We also provide advice, advocacy and training - including our Guides programme, which trains bereaved young people to be grief mentors.
Young people who experience loss and trauma often don’t have the right words to express themselves. Grown-ups often don’t have the tools to talk about difficult things. So young people develop invisible scars.
These invisible scars turn into visible symptoms that are regularly misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and mistreated e.g. stomach pains, panic attacks, self-harm.
Young people grow up feeling like they’re broken. They feel alone.
Not all young people want to sit in a room with a stranger and talk about their feelings. So we have created therapy designed with young people in mind.
